Barclays UK Increases Commitment to Women's Football and Premier League Sponsorship
Snapshot: The bank will continue as the title sponsor of the Barclays Women’s Super League and Women’s Championship until 2028, building on its initial investment from 2019, which was the largest of its kind in UK women's sports.
This renewed commitment comes as women's football experiences remarkable growth, with the Women’s Super League now boasting 3.2 million followers and a 283% increase in average match attendance since the 2021/22 season.
Barclays also extended its partnership with the Football Association to promote equality in football, including initiatives targeting underrepresented groups. To celebrate the renewal, the bank released a lighthearted video featuring league mascots navigating the challenges of city life. Additionally, Barclays has renewed its sponsorship of the Premier League for another four years, emphasizing its dedication to community initiatives and diversity in the sport.
Key Quote: “This latest agreement solidifies our long-term commitment to supporting the game at every level and creating opportunities for everyone to benefit from it.” — Tom Corbett, group head of sponsorship, Barclays.
