Imperfect Beginnings: Santander Launches Global Brand Platform

Published on May 26, 2026

Santander has introduced Imperfect Beginnings, a new global brand positioning built around its claim "It Starts Here," developed in partnership with Publicis Groupe.

The platform is built on a single cultural insight: that people increasingly feel they need to be fully prepared before taking action, and that feeling of needing to be ready is precisely what holds them back. Santander is positioning itself as the partner that helps people move forward anyway, at the early stages of major decisions rather than after the uncertainty has passed.

The positioning spans multiple channels and markets, combining real-life storytelling with content creator collaborations, employee participation, branch and WorkCafé activations, and contextual outdoor advertising tied to specific customer moments such as first salaries, mortgage applications, and new business activity. Content will focus on scenarios including entering the workforce, launching a business, and making initial financial commitments. The rollout begins in the UK and will extend across Santander's core markets over the coming weeks.

The UK launch activates the global platform through a campaign called Moving Starts Here, targeting first-time buyers.

Ant and Dec front the initial creative, appearing in a moving van discussing one of Santander's offers, with outdoor executions featuring the van in Santander's signature red. It is the first UK activation under the new positioning and follows the end of the Bank of Antandec concept in 2025. The campaign was built using Publicis Flame, Publicis Groupe's integrated offering combining creative, media, production, and data services.
