InvestEngine Challenges Investment Myths in New UK Campaign
Snapshot: InvestEngine, the UK-based investment platform specializing in slow-vesting through ETFs, has launched its first major brand campaign to attract more UK investors. With only 8% of UK investors currently holding ETFs, the platform aims to challenge traditional investment behaviors and highlight a smarter, long-term approach to wealth building.
The campaign, titled “Invest Smarter Than Them,” takes a humorous approach by spoofing common sources of bad investment advice, often fueled by short-term speculation and market hype. The creative execution leans into exaggerated portrayals of self-proclaimed finance influencers, complete with the quintessential finance gilet, to emphasize the pitfalls of impulsive investing.
A multi-channel effort, the campaign includes VOD, paid social, and out-of-home placements across the London Underground and National Rail, supported by influencer partnerships, PR, and lower-funnel performance marketing. The campaign’s comms strategy was developed by Craft Media, with media buying handled by Annex.
Adam Lees, Head of Marketing at InvestEngine, noted investing is often filled with unnecessary complexity, high fees, and emotional decision-making, which InvestEngine aims to simplify through its data-driven, low-cost approach. By parodying high-risk investment culture, InvestEngine is planting a flag for a smarter, data-backed approach to investing—one that prioritizes long-term financial security over quick wins and speculation.
Key quote: “With just the right amount of humor, we were able to highlight the contrast between outdated investing and InvestEngine’s approach. Let’s be honest, #YOLO and #FOMO are not investment strategies.” – Adam Lees, Head of Marketing, InvestEngine
