Geico Gecko Just Became an AI-Powered Live Podcast Guest

Published on June 15, 2026

Geico's Gecko made its first live, unscripted podcast appearance this week, calling into the iHeartMedia program Fudd Around and Find Out to speak with co-hosts and WNBA stars Azzi Fudd and Ashanti Plummer.

The six-minute conversation covered the Gecko's feelings on fame, music, food, and an apparent attempt at DJing. The appearance was powered by real-time AI and executed with human oversight, including reviews of the Gecko's output and guidance from brand teams to keep the character consistent with its established portrayal.

Geico describes the experiment as part of a shift from one-way advertising toward experiences with more direct audience connection, reflecting a broader pattern across insurance marketing. Progressive's Flo and State Farm's Jake have both been extended into new cultural formats in recent years, and Geico is now testing how far an AI-enabled version of the Gecko can travel. The brand's advantage is that the Gecko is animated, which reduces the uncanny valley concerns that have accompanied other AI character activations.

Creative was handled by The Martin Agency, a longtime Geico partner, with Omnicom Media and visual effects house Framestore providing support. Fudd is one of Geico's first long-term athlete partners, part of a wider investment in women's sports.
