Financial Brands Help Drive NWSL $75M Sponsorship Surge

The National Women’s Soccer League reached $75 million in team sponsorship revenue as of 2024, nearly equaling the WNBA’s $76 million after 27 seasons, according to SponsorUnited’s first NWSL-focused report. The league added over 200 new brand partners last season, including BMO and America First Credit Union, bringing the total number of sponsors to 401 and marking a 16% year-over-year increase. Key data points include:

  • $170,000 average spend per sponsorship deal

  • Over $1 million for each of the league’s top 10 sponsorships

  • $25M+ combined spend from healthcare and finance brands

  • 46% of league revenue is concentrated in Angel City FC, Kansas City Current, and San Diego Wave FC

Angel City FC stands out for converting fandom into revenue, generating $29 per social follower, outperforming several MLB and MLS teams, and hosting two of the league’s top endorsement-earning players. However, SponsorUnited cautions that the heavy revenue concentration among three clubs poses a structural risk for the league’s financial stability.
