Platinum Refresh: Amex Unveils Mirror Card And A Smarter App

Published on September 29, 2025

American Express is giving Platinum a visible refresh, pairing a limited-edition mirror card design with an updated Amex app experience for U.S. Consumer and Business Platinum members. The move puts brand and product in the same frame, shifting attention from a list of perks to a clearer, more interactive expression of “membership” on the home screen.

In the refreshed app, a dedicated Platinum hub to enroll in benefits, track usage in one place, browse restaurants, and view upcoming travel. For a high-consideration brand with heavy earned and owned touchpoints, this simplifies onboarding and retention while tightening the link between card identity and daily habit formation.

The refresh also aligns with a multi-year buildout of experiential assets like lounges and dining access, reinforcing a premium platform that spans physical, digital, and in-person. Amex is keeping the visual language consistent across consumer and business, giving teams one story to tell and one interface to support.

The company is leaning into recognizability and utility at once, inviting members to choose the mirror design while meeting them in app with tools that reduce friction.
