Bridget Lowell Joins TD Bank as CCO from Capital One
Bridget Lowell, VP, Corporate Communications at Capital One, will join TD Bank as its Chief Communications Officer, bringing her media, political and banking experience to the role.
In her new position, Lowell will report to TD Bank Chief Marketing Officer Jennie Platt and Chief Communications Officer (Global) of TD Bank Group, Senior Vice President, Corporate and Public Affairs, Ronald Alepian.
Lowell’s appointment at TD Bank follows corporate moves at Capital One, which launched a takeover to acquire Discover Financial Services, a deal estimated to be worth $35 billion.
While the merger announcement may have “sparked concerns about a potential disruption to the competitive landscape and an increased systemic risk to the financial system,” according to Digital Marketing News, the more immediate impact has been on the related human capital.
Meanwhile, Lowell’s appointment coincides with the significant growth at TD Bank Group, which reported a 79 percent increase in fiscal Q1 earnings.
Prior to joining Capital One, Lowell was based in Washington, DC.
She served as VP and Chief Communications Officer at the nonprofit organization Urban Institute.
Before that, she was at the nonprofit The Nature Conservancy, where she held the posts of Associate Director, Media Relations, and Director of Strategic Communications. There, she directed a team tasked with advancing the highest level organizational priorities, and developed and executed national media strategies; secured media coverage in top-tier media outlets and built relationships with reporters among other tasks, according to her LinkedIn.
In politics, she was Communications Director at the U.S. House of Commons, and, in media, worked in reporter roles at TV stations in North Carolina and New York.
Lowell has a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in New York.
