Michigan Community Financial Credit Union Rebrands As Orsa After 75 Years

Published on March 3, 2026

Community Financial Credit Union adopted the name orsa credit union, marking a rebrand the $1.5 billion Michigan cooperative says reflects its 75-year legacy and long-term commitment to communities while sharpening its identity and reinforcing its purpose of protecting people and helping Michiganders pursue ambitious goals.

The name orsa draws on the credit union's longstanding role as protector and guide for members, with branding anchored by Daisy, the organization's mama bear, and inspired by the Ursa constellations, symbols traditionally associated with guidance and direction.

President and CEO Tansley Stearns said the rebrand is an evolution of how the organization shows up, not a change in who it is, with purpose, values and commitment to Michigan remaining firmly in place. Board Chair Teri Kuehn said the decision followed extensive governance-led review involving thoughtful listening, analysis and planning, adding that a distinctive name will help the credit union expand its reach and better serve members across Michigan.
