
TWIF Joins Plaid as an Independent Subsidiary
Plaid is acquiring This Week in Fintech, the fintech industry's largest community platform, which has grown from a single newsletter in 2019 to a network with more than 200,000 subscribers, 75,000 event attendees, and 10,000 online community members.
TWIF will operate as an independent subsidiary with its own mission and editorial independence intact, according to founder Nik Milanovic. The deal pairs one of fintech's most widely read content properties with the data infrastructure company that has quietly become foundational to how financial products get built.
Plaid's aggregation layer sits beneath a significant share of the fintech ecosystem, making a media and community asset a natural extension of its platform ambitions. Owned media and community platforms are increasingly being treated as strategic assets rather than marketing channels, and this is one of the cleaner examples of an infrastructure player buying the conversation around its own category.
