The Shared Logic Behind Deutsche Börse's Vendée Globe Sponsorship
Clearstream and 360T, both part of Deutsche Börse Group, have announced a three-year joint partnership with Team Malizia, the offshore sailing team skippered by Boris Herrmann, covering The Ocean Race Atlantic 2026, The Ocean Race 2027, and Herrmann's third Vendée Globe campaign in 2028/29.
Clearstream head of strategy Florian Pfleiderer described the sponsorship rationale in operational terms: operating critical financial market infrastructure and racing solo around the world share the same requirements, resilient systems, real-time data, and decisive action in fast-changing conditions. 360T Group CEO Carlo Kölzer made the same connection from the FX trading side, citing precision, cutting-edge technology, and the ability to adapt as the common ground between the two worlds.
The partnership extends a collaboration between 360T and Team Malizia that began in November 2024, with Clearstream joining for the new campaign cycle coinciding with the launch of Malizia 4, the team's new IMOCA race yacht.
Herrmann made history as the first German to complete the Vendée Globe in 2020/21, finishing fifth, and placed third overall in The Ocean Race 2022/23. Team Malizia collects ocean climate data during races and runs an education programme across 11 languages, with climate action sitting alongside performance as a core part of the team's identity.
