New Plynk Ad Runs Math Ahead of Hype
Plynk is promoting its More of a Good Thing dividend match campaign with a new short-form video that plays on a quirky street interview to hold attention.
A mic-wielding hand pops out of the ground. From there, the momentarily fazed interviewee greets each new detail of the promotion with “No way,” “Amazing” and “Incredible.” The spot ends with the microphone and hand sinking back into the ground.
The tongue-in-cheek format holds viewers long enough for the interviewer to provide a walk-through of the offer’s terms and the math behind potential returns, without hiding it is anything other than a product demo.
The approach follows a direction that Kristin Kanders, Head of Marketing at Plynk, outlined in a June interview with Financial Narrative News. Kanders said the brand would focus on long-term investing over trends: “We don’t need to add a lot of glitz or sleight of hand to something like the S&P 500."
Kanders described the target audience as investors who have already started and want a single platform. “They want one place that helps them understand what they have, what it’s doing, and what to do next,” she said. She cited the Income Hub, the app’s tool for tracking dividend and interest income, as an example of the credibility she wanted the brand to project.
“Not flashy, not gimmicky,” she said. “We aim for something more grounded: a sense that this is built to last.”
Under the humor, the ad shows what a year of holding dividend payers can earn, affirming the long-term investing approach Plynk is known for.
