FTA’s Sarah Mamula: Banks and Fintechs Agree on Fraud
The Financial Technology Association’s Sarah Mamula on open banking, fraud, and the policy fights ahAt Money20/20 in Las Vegas, Sarah Mamula, head of government affairs at the Financial Technology Association, spoke with Financial Narrative’s Ashley Jones about the trade group’s policy agenda. FTA represents fintech companies including PayPal, Stripe, Adyen, and Revolut at the state and federal level.
Mamula said FTA’s priorities include open banking, payments modernization, and fraud prevention, which she called an issue where fintechs and traditional banks agree. She expects fraud, particularly with the rise of agentic commerce, and open banking to stay at the top of the agenda in 2027.
She said effective advocacy relies on data showing how legislation affects a lawmaker’s own constituents, and on consistent messaging across government affairs, communications, and policy teams.
