Money20/20 Europe: In Conversation with Rosanna Helm-Visscher, Ecommpay

Financial Narrative spent June 3-5 in Amsterdam at Money20/20 Europe for a series of panel discussions and a marcomms networking meetup at the world's biggest, most influential gathering of the global money ecosystem.

We also got a chance to connect with some of the changemaking attendees. Rosanna Helm-Visscher, Head of Commercial and Financial Partnerships at Ecommpay, shares how she builds strategic partner relationships, navigates a maturing fintech ecosystem, and adds value far beyond the networking floor.

What excites you most about Money20/20?

Money20/20 is really the crème de la crème if you want to meet financial partners, connect with banks, and see what’s trending in fintech. The setup is great, as always. What I love most is the chance to see our existing partners and meet new ones. Especially in my role as a global partnership manager, I don’t get to see every partner very often. So being here in Amsterdam, where everyone’s in one place, is a fantastic opportunity.

What is the biggest challenge for leaders in your role today?

We have so many players in this industry, and as I like to say, everyone wants a piece of the cake. And not just a piece. The biggest piece!

During COVID and the post-pandemic boom, growth skyrocketed across the industry. Now, things have started to stabilize. But I would not call that a challenge. It is more a natural development of the economy and the sector. We are adjusting to a new normal.

What aspect of your role do you wish more people asked you about?

When I say I am Head of Partnerships, people often ask, "What kind of partners?" Or they assume it is all just networking. But there is a lot more to it than that.

It would be great if people asked, "What does your day-to-day look like?"

Yes, networking is part of it. But the core of my job is building and growing relationships. It is about being the link between our partners, our internal teams, and our clients. I work on both financial and commercial partnerships, so if we want to expand into a new market, we need to find the right partners there.

I help build those connections to better serve our clients and ensure we have the right integrations, technical setups, and go-to-market alignment.

Once the relationship is in place, that is really just the beginning. From there, we grow through joint marketing campaigns, co-hosted events, webinars, and other collaborations. It is all about creating a strong value proposition together with our partners to serve our clients effectively.
