Challenger To Champion: Chime Named #1 US Bank Brand
Chime has been named the number one bank brand in America on TIME’s 2025 World’s Best Brands list, surpassing century-old competitors to claim the top spot. The recognition caps a rapid climb for the digital bank, which didn’t appear on the list four years ago and ranked fourth just last year.
Chief Marketing Officer Vineet Mehra framed the milestone as both validation and momentum, saying Chime was built “piece by piece, with intent, creativity, heart, and the belief that doing right by everyday people could redefine what banking feels like.”
For Mehra, the ranking reflects more than marketing success; it signals a broader shift in what consumers now value from financial brands. “It’s proof that a brand built on trust, optimism, and relevance can rise above legacy and noise,” he said in a LinkedIn post celebrating the win.
The decisive branding choices and community-building campaigns behind Chime’s ascent have centered on financial empowerment and authenticity rather than traditional product-first messaging, aligning with the company’s mission to help everyday Americans make financial progress. Chime’s recognition highlights how digital-native brands are earning not just market share but emotional loyalty through purpose-driven storytelling.
Mehra credited the entire team and its customers for the achievement, calling it “a win for the 200 million Americans striving for financial progress.” As he put it, “We’re not done. We’re just getting started.”
